Assessments

Here at Lumos, we offer comprehensive Psychoeducational Assessments (for both children and adults), as well as specific ADHD Assessments for adults. There are some important differences in each of these assessments - understanding the purpose and processes associated with these two services can help you determine which one is the right fit for you.

A Psychoeducational Assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that assesses cognitive abilities, academic skills, attention and learning processes, and behavioural/emotional/social functioning. The process typically involves interviews, questionnaires and standardized testing. A range of possible diagnoses can be explored through this type of assessment including ADHD, learning disorders, intellectual disabilities, giftedness, mood disorders, and other mental health conditions. A comprehensive assessment provides insight into a person’s cognitive and learning profile, including an understanding of their strengths and areas for growth. The goal is to identify specific interventions and/or accommodations to support them. This type of assessment is often required to establish eligibility for certain programs, accommodations, or support services.

The cost of a comprehensive assessment is $2,400

We conduct Psychoeducational Assessments out of our three office locations - Edmonton, Camrose, and Fort Saskatchewan

An adult ADHD Assessment is focused on identifying symptoms and patterns of ADHD specifically. It involves a thorough clinical interview, behavioural history, and series of standardized questionnaires. The goal is to determine whether you meet diagnostic criteria for ADHD and help you identify what treatment and strategies will be the best fit for you. The psychologist will also consider other conditions that could be contributing to your current symptoms or struggles (e.g. an anxiety disorder), but it is important to understand that this assessment does not involve testing of intellectual abilities or academic skills. If you are looking for insight into your cognitive or learning profile (or if you are needing an assessment to access academic accommodations) then a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment is the route to go.

The cost of an ADHD assessment is $1,200

Most of the assessment is conducted virtually, but there is an option to complete parts of it in-person at our Edmonton office location if that is preferred.
