Brea has been working in the mental health field for 20 years. She began her career in the non-profit sector, providing social rehabilitation programming and in-home support for children with behaviour challenges. She then moved into the world of education, working for many years as a school counsellor and school division psychologist before making the shift into private practice. Brea has experience working with a range of issues including trauma, attachment and relationship issues, depression, anxiety, aggression, self-harm, attention and learning problems, addictions, and grief/loss. Brea is a compassionate listener who has a big heart for children and adolescents who are struggling. As a mom herself, she also has great empathy for parents who are balancing busy lives with children. In 2017 Brea was named one of Avenue Edmonton’s Top 40 Under 40 for her work in the areas of youth mental health and violence prevention.

Brea is deeply devoted to her work with the clients and team at Lumos Psychological. She genuinely enjoys helping people of all ages explore their own attachment history and heal from difficult experiences. She is a Certified EMDR Therapist, and she uses EMDR therapy in combination with other evidence-based techniques to treat a variety of presenting concerns. She also has training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and enjoys helping couples and family members strengthen their relationships. Brea is a certified facilitator for the attachment-based Circle of Security and Connect Parent programs. In addition, Brea is a Level III Reiki Practitioner and she is happy to integrate energy healing into counselling sessions upon request.
